Omani Sultanate signs new Nationality Law

According to the new Omani Nationality Law, promulgated by Royal Decree 17/2025, the Sultanate of Oman has introduced new conditions for foreigners to apply for citizenship. The law aims to promote national interests, ties, and loyalty.

Foreigners who have made significant contributions to the country, such as businessmen, investors, and entrepreneurs, will now be eligible to apply for Omani citizenship. Other individuals who have strong ties with Oman, including those with Omani wives or who have spent a significant amount of time in the country, may also be considered.

The new law has also relaxed some of the previous conditions for foreigners to become citizens. For example, foreigners who have been living in Oman for at least 20 years and have bailed out a Omani citizen may now be eligible for citizenship.
