The Least Visited: The Quiet Side Of Tourism

Travel is a significant part of modern life and contributes to many countries’ economies. Popular destinations include France, Spain, and the United States. Bangkok, Thailand, is the most visited city globally, with 22 million visitors annually. Paris, France, is the second-most visited city, with 17.4 million visitors annually. Other destinations may be less popular due to distance or time constraints.

While other nations might be nearby, they might also be unreasonably costly or devoid of captivating landmarks. Some may have undeveloped tourism sectors, which can complicate travel arrangements. Some are just too tiny to accommodate large numbers of visitors. Lastly, some nations—like North Korea—may be mistakenly or correctly viewed as dangerous or challenging to go to, or they may actually be unsafe because of political unrest or open hostilities (like Somalia).

The Quiet Side Of Tourism

A nation’s tourism figures may not always translate into a lower quality of life. Seldom travelled nations are usually regarded as equally stunning, less crowded, more pristine, and frequently less expensive than more well-known tourist spots, with the understandable exception of those that are really dangerous.

As overtouristed as some countries seem to be, some seem not to be visited atall.

10. Mali

9. Nigeria

8. Venezuela

7. Niger

6. Ethiopia

5. Sierra Leone

4. Angola

3. Burkina Faso

2. Chad

1. Bangladesh

In contrast to certain other countries, the aforementioned list of nations appears equitable. Certain nations, such as Tuvalu, have historically seen very few visitors in a given year. This has nothing to do with insecurity or any other inconvenience. The rationale is not implausible. Travelling to and from several of these countries has become nearly impossible due to a variety of problems, including climate change.

Tuvalu as a case study, have its beaches fringed with palm trees and its azure waters, which are ideal for diving and snorkelling. Lagoons, maritime environments, and coral reefs abound in the 33 km² conservation area. Relaxing strolls, picnics, boat rides, motorbike excursions, and trips to locations from World War II are among the activities. Even though the international airport in Tuvalu is run by Fiji Airways, yet service is not always reliable. As one of the 22 Pacific island nations most at risk from climate change, Tuvalu is teaching its young people that they might be the last to grow up there before the island submerges.

Let’s view below, According to the United Nations World Tourism Organization, countries that are really sparsely visited.

  • Tuvalu
  • Marshall Islands
  • Kiribati
  • Montserrat
  • Niue
  • Micronesia
